Since we were the first buyers in a new build, it was extremely tricky to juggle the seller’s timeline with the lender’s requirements for the number of units under contract. But he managed to keep the seller patient and confident, while we secured financing. And when the developer’s lender fell through, he found us a new lender with an even better rate. There were numerous moments when the deal could have gone off the rails, but John kept it on track to a successful end. This required not only a mastery of the business but diplomacy and finesse. Soon after we closed, the building sold out—the units going in exactly the order that John had predicted.
